Week 44: Who Lives in a Pineapple Under the Sea?

Running out of blog titles here people, help me out. In related news, we're totally watching Sponge Bob right now.

So, we're going to do a quickie blog here, because I have big big BIG weekend plans, and I just realized I hadn't gotten my blog in for the week. If you've been keeping up with my facebook page, you've gotten to see what we've been up to each day in the form of pictures, but in case you've missed it, here's Your Waterstraut Weekly Recap:

Sunday we made it out to Monster Mini Golf. Hayden lost his 'special day' on Spring Break, and thus lost his Monster Mini Golf Outing (though I still had the groupon). It was super fun (even though Asa won by 2), nice and cool (yay for indoors and air conditioning on an 100 degree day), and totally different (they gave out suckers for certain colored balls, and you got to draw a number at the end to see if it matched your score for a prize)

After that, we headed out to the surf n turf market in Palm Harbor for the meat for the week. So much cheaper than the grocery store, especially when you have coupons.

Sunday Night we held our point auction. In a nutshell, Calib drove up the price of the Full Steam Ahead card and made Peyton cash out his points. Hayden bid on everything that came up in order, cashing out his points early. (But had a funny spring in his step every time he used one of the cards, reminiscent Peter Parker in Spiderman 2) His favorite? The night owl. He cashed it in the first night and stayed up as late as he wanted. Calib bid on some random things, and I think he's saving them all up to use them in one day.
Monday began Food week. We made Marshmallow shooters. Somehow I keep finding mini marshmallows all over the house, kind of like feathers.

And we also made candy bracelets out of pull n peel twizzlers and gummy lifesavers.

Tuesday we constructed a solar oven to make smores. We were going to use it the next day for hot dogs, but sadly, it got rained on.

Asa made an awesome dinner of General Tso Chicken, and we all learned to eat with chop sticks. Some of us did better than others.

Wednesday was homemade dinner day. We made pasta (though I really wish I had a pasta maker- rolling it by hand was ALOT of work.)

Also, FYI, that thing where you shake heavy cream in a jar until it becomes butter totally works. Plus, we made some banana bread.

Then we played with our 'naked eggs'. Basically, eggs soaked in vinegar for a day become awesome. The shell washes right off, and they become pretty bouncy. I must remember this when Calib surely gets that 'drop in egg from three stories high and see if it breaks' assignment.

Thursday we made a pinata. It's still drying, so we haven't painted it yet- but it's coming along nicely. I'll post finished pictures next time.

We also soaked some celery in food coloring and water. The leaves are just starting to turn colors, so you'll have to wait till next time for that too. Hayden did discover something awesome this week though. His new favorite thing to do is float the balloons above the fan.

There you have it, my week in some pictures and a lot less words than usual.

I will give you some added funniness though. In the form of things I never thought I'd say/hear.

Me: "Who fed the cat in the closet"

Me: "Wait. You buttered the bread BEFORE you put it in the toaster?!?!' (In a related note, RIP cute little toaster)

Hayden: "Mom, does your underwear go in the lights or the darks?"
Me: "Depends on which pair it is"
Hayden: "That one with lace that dad likes"
(I have no idea where he came up with this, so we'll have to check with Asa for that one)

Hayden: "Can I pee in THIS sleeping bag?"

Up Next: It's Celebration Weekend, Ya'll! Anniversaries! Birthdays! Father's Day! Also, we've got Science Week coming up- put on your goggles and get out your diet soda and mentos!

  1. Pasta? Banana bread? Chinese? Do you want me to break into your home and steal your dinner? :P

Kudos on the pasta, that was awesome. Even with the roller, which isn't too expensive, you still have to slice it into strands and hang like in the picture. Much easier than to roll and roll and roll.
