Back from our anniversary, and Asa had another day off work for Juneteenth. Plus, we were still pool sitting. So, obviously we spent our day drinking and reading in the pool like the old people we are quickly becoming.
So old in fact, Asa now needs a heating pad for his sore neck some days. Etta, however, was very happy to have us home and was pleased with the extra couch time.
Of course, since we were back it was also time to get working on Asa's next batch of Hooch. This one, however, went terribly wrong and ended up resulting in some seriously bad smelling mango hooch. But, you win some, you lose some.
Over at the pool again, Asa saved a couple of lives- and rescued some tiny frogs who had jumped in the pool and couldn't get out.
My smaller sunflowers had run their course, so I got to picking out the seeds. I intended to roast them, but I didn't- so now I'm considering planting them to see what happens!
Of course, the summer season also officially started- so it was time for some new coffee mugs (the summer mugs are among my favorites).
I almost got a great picture of the pups with all four of them looking. Three out of four isn't terrible though, right?
I did get a fun one of all four of them having dinner together though. Look how cute, it's like they're eating at a table together!
Hoagie fest was at Wawa, which is awesome. Gotta love $6 subs!
It made for a good meal when we went out and did our grocery shopping over there. On our way home, we swung by the library, and there were crows out front, which Asa insisted on feeding. He was like 'what do we have?!? So, I let him open a bag of tortilla chips.
Obviously, there were pool trips nearly every day.
We played some more DnD, and I built a little Eleanor figure for my own enjoyment.
Olivia even got in on it.
Besides DnD, Chess has been HUGE around here lately. We're now onto watching football players play chess online apparently.
We had one of our game nights, and intvited some of our neighborhood friends- the Maihacks, Harvison's, Dom and Nando, Fire Teresa, you know- the usual.
Of course, Etta demanded all the attention. (I have this picture from all angles because everyone took them- and then everyone sent them to me).
And Dom happily gave it to her.
The next morning, Asa broke out the rowing machine for the first time in awhile. And he's even trying his hand at making bread! The first attempt was decent. A little dense, but edible.
And we hit up Wawa with Olivia for lunch...
..before we hit up the pet bed making class at the library. It was a partnership between the animal shelter and the library, so we made the beds and then donated them to the shelter, and in return they brought in a pup to give his thanks. Papa had already been adopted, and was just waiting for the shelter all clear, but he was a fun little guy, who just loved Asa's pet bed.
Even when given the chance to lay on other beds, he stuck to Asa's.
Speaking of animal shelter animals- remember my "God kitten" down the street (Mike is now calling me 'Aunt Corinne' when I play with the kitten)? Well he is growing like a little weed. We go visit every couple of weeks. Spoiler Alert: He's gotten the all clear to play with his kitty siblings, Wittig and Fancy, so that's super fun.
In other news, I also hit my 1000 day streak on Duolingo (Asa was about two weeks behind me time wise, but he's way ahead learning wise!)
So, while we were at the library for the pet bed class, Amanda, who was putting on the class, had a bunch of DnD stuff they had gotten from New River. Since Asa is going to be running the teen DnD events he got the whole tub to sort through, and funny enough, we found Hayden's old character from before the library closed during covid. Asa may or may not work him into our current campaign.
Back over at the neighbors, there was a butterfly trapped in the screened-in enclosure. He even let me gently take him back outside, and then he didn't want to leave me. I think it's the first time I've ever had a butterfly sit on my hand like that!
Another weekend- another whole day at the pool.
And some very intense games of volleyball.
We had to take a break though, because I had scored a new couch on the buy nothing group, and Kyle took Asa and Calib over in his truck to pick it up. This thing was being regifted because it did not fit in these people's house. I jumped on it right away, because our family room ikea couch had seen better days (it really was starting to fall apart. And, I was the lucky one chosen.
I debated where to put this- either leave it in the front room, and bring that couch into the Family room, where we spend most of our time- or move it to the Family room even though it's clearly a little big for it. Ultimately, we spend more time in the Family room, and we're always a little short on the seating, so I decided to try and make it work. But first, I knew we'd at least have to move the tv to the other wall (which we could do now because we don't need a cable jack), to put the couch on the wall the tv was once on. Asa's back was bothering him, though, so when it came time to move things around and get it from the front room into the Family room, it was Hayden and Calib to the rescue. They did the whole thing themselves. Older/adult kids for the win!
It fits, maybe not perfect, but it totally works. The couch is in excellent condition and seats so many people. The only issue is being on the opposite side of the former couch, you can see how much we've worn down the carpet over the years.
Still, the whole neighborhood is calling it the 'Buy Nothing Find of the Year'. Nobody can believe we got this thing for free. We love it! (And after all of that, I did send a very nice thank you to the family we got it from).
And that is it for June. Basically. I am so far behind on blogs, we're three weeks into July already.. We do have weekend plans, but I'm going to do my best to catch up!
Next up: Olivia turns 21!!
