Seeing Seattle

We only spent one whole day in Seattle, but it was a Doozie!

Sunday July 21- Tim and Emily's Wedding Day! 

Yes, it's a Sunday. And my cousin was getting married. But, as a girl who got married on a Thursday- who am I to judge? Asa and I decided it would be best to keep the kids busy in the morning, and we wanted to do something to celebrate our anniversary (5 years since we got engaged, 9 since we got together!) We got up, bundled up- it was a COLD morning- and walked the couple blocks from our hotel to Pike Place Market. 

For lunch we thought we'd do the Epcot thing, and just get some food in various places and share. We had found a video the night before of how to have a good meal at the market for under $10, and got all kinds of little snacks/meals. 

Our first stop was Beechers for the Mac and Cheese. They make the cheese right there in the store, and you get to watch it being made while you wait/eat. We were lucky enough to get a couple of 'stools'. All 5 o us took up more than half of the seating against the windows. The Mac and Cheese, was as claimed, the World's Best. Hayden ordered a grilled cheese and was THRILLED with the cheesiness. The Breadzel was also delicious. 

The boys wanted to try the uber cheesecake bites at The Confectional. At only $2 each, they were a nice little bite of yumminess. Not amazing, but good. 

None of us were super impressed with the Barbecued Pork Humbow at Mee Sum Pastry. It was bad, just different, and not really what we were expecting.

We walked some more along the market, enjoying the general awesomeness of it all. Hayden liked the crabs just hanging out, I was partial to the sunflowers, and Asa really liked the pepper hangings. 

We stopped at Frank's produce where Peyton and Hayden picked out peaches, and Calib picked out a pear. I had a bite of each of them, and they were all so juicy and awesome. Hayden wasn't a fan, I knew he didn't like peaches all that much but I let him get one anyway. He ended up giving his to a very happy Peyton. 

Theres also a shop that sells specialty soda. I'm only calling it soda, because they're officially 'specialty soda's'. The boys all got one for later, and one to enjoy with lunch. 

After that we stopped at Pike Place Chowder for some Clam Chowder. The line was long, so Asa headed down to the Daily Dozen Donut Company for a dozen cinnamon sugar mini donuts. We met back up and shared our treats. 

Happy with our lunch, we walked back up to the hotel and stopped by for a bathroom break where we ran into Clint and Jessica. 

Having a few more hours before the wedding, we decided to take the monorail down to the Seattle Center. We had thought about going to the Pacific Science Center, but the price and the amount of time left just didn't seem worth it. We walked around a bit, laid in the grass, and enjoyed the view of the Space Needle. 

It was nice for the boys to run off a bunch of energy, and we decided we could walk back to the hotel instead of taking the monorail. It really wasn't that far, and the weather was turning into a lot nicer of day than the morning had been. 

After getting ready for the wedding, we headed the block over to the park where Tim and Emily got engaged, a perfect spot for the actual wedding too. We could even see the set up from our hotel window. It was a lovely wedding, even a little warm. Who knew, a warm sunny day in Seattle? Congrats to the two of them, and thanks to my kids who sat perfectly through the whole ceremony. Afterwards, Hayden happily played in the confetti and rose petals laying everywhere. 

We all walked back to the hotel for dinner. It was a great table to be at, all the Sattlers (minus mom who was with her siblings), and Bridgette. Clearly Emily doesn't know Clint very well because she sat Calib next to him. The result: Calib dressed like Clint, having a sip of wine, and eating balls of butter.

It was super nice of Emily and Tim to have goodie bags for the kids. The blow up light sabers were a huge hit, and Hayden made ring toss out of his glow sticks and wine glasses, but the balancing seagulls had to be a favorite. They can balance on the tip of their nose on anything. Including, apparently, Cort and Emily's noses. Hayden lost his some where along the way, and was really bummed about it. But one made it home, and they're still playing with it. Good replay value!

After dinner, we all went downstairs for cake cutting, and dancing. Peyton and Hayden bailed quickly. Hayden still hadn't adjusted to west coast time, and was pooped by 8 pm. I didn't believe him when he said he was tired, but he fell asleep almost instantly upstairs. Peyton watched him, took my cell phone, and happily played some games while the rest of us returned downstairs.

It was a good time, hanging out with my siblings. Calib drank the bar dry of Sprite, I'm pretty sure, and the rest of us enjoyed a few drinks (some more than others).

I'd also like to note, us Sattler women really dress up. We all sported our flip flops at the reception. I was the only one who didn't wear them to the wedding and dinner, however, I had fancy shoes for that. But when I saw what they were getting away with, I had to join in.

And to top it all off, there was a photo booth for all of us to take some pictures in. It made for some memorable moments. Thanks to Tim and Emily for having all of us, it was an awesome time!

After a lot of dancing, and even getting Calib out on the floor, the reception was over. We all stayed to send Tim and Emily off and headed up to bed. I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.
