I haven't done a normal blog for something like two weeks, but you haven't missed all that much. Asa was in the office, and we've been avoiding going out too much since various counties around us have been on Spring Break. But, we did go out a few days late to celebrate our Florida Anniversary. March 18th marked 11 years since we got to the sunshine state. We try and celebrate every year with a very Florida like activity. This year the boys wanted to go to Top Golf. We hadn't been in awhile, and Asa had some free money to spend since it is his birthday month. We got lunch, hit some balls, and enjoyed the LOVELY weather we've been having!
We also decided it would be a great time to try out our pool for the very first time. It wasn't as warm as we might like, but one of the two pools is heated and we do have a hot tub to warm us up at the end.
Peyton put his swimsuit on, but wasn't thrilled with the temperature, so he sat and hunted Pokemon.
For dinner we had sliders and sushi. It was a make your own Bento Box like they have at Cowfish!
And we ate out on the patio, which is always lovely. We have lunch out there or at the bar quite a bit. I'm going to be sad when it's super hot and we don't use the patio as much. But until then, I'm soaking it in.
So eleven years we've been here now. Still the best decision we've ever made. I'm pretty sure we were all meant to be Floridians.
On the home school front, Asa made Peyton some fun word problems for math. We've kind of moved on from getting some basics down for him, and decided that what he needs to work on now is how to solve real-life math problems. He's allowed to ask google, he just needs to know WHAT to ask google. Look, he's never going to be a mathematician, but that's fine. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, and we just need to learn how to work around those weaknesses. Plus, Peyton actually really likes this math!
We also celebrate Pi day with a break from the countries project. We had Pizza Pie and regular old pie! (Hayden's the only one who wore his Pi shirt and posed for a picture for me, Calib and Peyton don't entertain my requests for pictures anymore).
We also had our first Jeopardy in awhile.
In case I hadn't mentioned it in my last blog, on March 1st, Asa started grad school. We're super excited for him here!
Asa was in the office, and the house was pretty low-key. I also might have let Calib skip a school day to hang out and watch all the first round of March Madness with me. Another perk of home school! Peyton was the last perfect bracket, but also the first to have his winner knocked out. He does still have 7 of his elite 8 in, so we'll see how it all pans out.
It's warm now, but we also had a few REALLY cold (for Florida) days. Ellie doesn't mind them, as long as she can be tucked in on the couch.
And you know it's cold if Calib is taking my slippers. (He didn't think I'd get a picture of them, but I totally snuck one!)
Asa and I took a errand date day, too. We stopped by Trader Joes and Sprouts, a new Wednesday tradition.
Oh, and we've started to tackle the jungle that is our back yard. It took Calib FOREVER to remove this one plant, but once he did, he was pretty proud of himself.
That's it from here. Allison is visiting, so not only will be out and about doing things this weekend, but it's also her birthday! And tomorrow is Asa's birthday! So we're going to have some Birthday extravaganza going on here!
Next Up: A 34 year old Asa!
