Anniversary #9: Day Four

Originally, Asa was only going to take off Monday for our anniversary, and we were going to check out early and head home for him to work on Tuesday morning. But, when, at 60 days out, I managed to nab Slinky Dog Dash Fastpasses for 3 pm on Tuesday, he decided to take all of Tuesday off too. Couple that with the fact we were able to get a 1 pm checkout on Tuesday, and I was ready to have a leisurely morning. We decided to grab breakfast at the resort, again, but took a minute to stop and enjoy the hammocks on one of the many beaches.

While Centertowne Market up at the lobby does have breakfast, we decided to head back over to Spyglass Grill, the fun little pool bar in the far off Trinidad section of the resort. (They even had a fun Plinko game to play).

I thought about going with the banana pineapple pancakes, but I just couldn't pass up another chance to have the guava stuffed french toast.

Asa got the breakfast turkey sandwich this time, but also got a side of the red eye chorizo gravy to add to it. He enjoyed this even more than the cuban he had a few days before. Lesson learned: add that gravy to any of the breakfast sandwiches to make it a little more awesome.

We wore our swimsuits to breakfast so we could walk back past the main pool and get in one last swim.

Lucikly, the weather held off for us and we enjoyed some time going down the waterslides and floating around.

I'm telling you, it's such a fun pool!

We headed back to the room about noon, knowing we had to pack up and load up the car. By now it was hot- like summer Florida hot, so I suggested we load up the car (and inevitably sweat) in our swimsuits and then take a quick dip in the quiet pool right by our room to cool off before we left.

We left our room right about one o'clock. So long room 4633!

We did have lunch reservations over at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, so we headed there next.

Our reservations were for Sanna, the table service place at Kidani Village. It's off the beaten path, but they were recently added to the list of restaurants giving passholders 20% off for lunch. And, you can eat right next to the windows over looking the savanna. So not only do you get good food with a discount- you get animals too!

We weren't there for any big meal or anything, we were there for the $17 bread service. It really is the best. You get five pieces of naan bread and NINE accompaniments. They are: Cucumber Raita, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Mango Chutney, Tomato-Date Jam, Tamarind Chutney, Coriander Chutney, Garlic Pickle, Red Chile Sambal, and Spicy JalapeƱo-Lime Pickle

The whole thing is delicious and totally filling. This is really all you need for lunch. I don't eat the three spiciest ones. But I love the first row of five there, with my favorites being the Tomato-Date Jam, and the Tamarind Chutney. Both are awesome.

Even though a storm was brewing, we still had a nice view of the animals, too. It's hard to see in the pictures- but there were a lot of animals out that day. Tons of zebras, antelopes and birds, and a couple of giraffes and even a watusi.  It made for a lovely lunch!

We sported our anniversary buttons all weekend, and while we got lots of 'Congratulations', we didn't get any free stuff (sometimes you rack it in, sometimes not so much). Our server at Sanna must have know and she gave us a dessert on the house.

After lunch there was a bunch of thunder, and while our Slinky Dog fastpass time was approaching, the ride was currently down. We sat on some rocking chairs  to watch the animals to try and figure out if we should go to Hollywood Studios or head home.

We had made the decision just to head home- the radar didn't look very promising. But when we got back in the car I decided to check one more time- and Slinky Dog Dash was back open! So over to Hollywood Studios we went.

This time we sat in the second to last car (that's Slinky Dog's tail behind Asa's head), and it was still a super fun ride.

We also noticed people starting to get in line to see Woody and Jessie, so we hopped in line while it was still really short. Now, this is another one of those places where the characters aren't listed separately. Instead just by meeting Woody and Bo Peep we could check off

#23 Meet the Toys in Toy Story Land

After that we ducked into
#24 Walt Disney Presents (Film & props on display)
area where you can see how Disney came to be, well Disney.

There are two other 'attractions' here. We didn't want to wait the hour to meet Mike and Sully, but there's usually a movie preview you can check out in the theater here. It varies, when I first made the list it was for Wreck it Ralph. But, that has since come and gone.

Now it's for
#25 Disney Toy Story 4 Sneak Peek

Because Slinky Dog was closed when our Fastpasses first started, it had tecnically switched to an 'Anytime Fastpass', which means Fastpass tiers no longer matter. (It's a thing us Disney people know well). So that meant I could change one of my previously scheduled ones back to a tier one ride- and we were able to grab one last Fastpass for Toy Story Mania. It wasn't Asa's highest score. But he was so excited we got to ride it so many times over our anniversary. It was five times, I believe. Which honestly is probably more than we've ridden it in the last couple years combined.

So that was it for our in the park time. With the summer blackout dates we can only go to Hollywood Studios and Epcot. And while we didn't make much progress on Epcot, but we're now at 26 items out of 36 at Hollywood Studios- Only TEN more to go. That gives us a Hollywood Studios completion percent of 72.2%, and an overall completion percent of  (137 out of 249) 55%. So we still have a ways to go, but we have until October.

We hopped on the tram to the parking lot just as it started to pour down rain again.

But by now it was dinner time, so we decided to chance the weather and head back over to Disney Springs for one more meal, and it had let up by the time we got there.

Our last meal was a stop at probably the best burger place at Disney: D-Lux Burger. They had an orange cream milkshake on the secret mobile menu that was amazing.

But the burgers, fries, and dipping sauces are tasty too!

We did a little nosing around the shops before finally calling it and heading home. If I had a disposable income, I could buy all the Disney dresses. But for now I just take pictures of them and how cute they are. (Because they're like $128 a piece... YIKES!) Or you can always get the grape soda purse for a cool $78.

I was hoping to get a magnet to add to my collection, but there isn't one specifically for Caribbean Beach Resort. And nothing else really spoke to me. But, Asa and I did find an Up puzzle (the theme song to Up called 'Married Life' was played at our wedding).

And, I mean we also have a cool little souvenir from our anniversary from Mickey.

We arrived home Tuesday evening. Calib had even mowed the lawn, the house was clean, Hayden had been taken to and from his library volunteer training, and I realized how little my kids needed me to function for a weekend. They did miss home cooked meals though, so there's that.

Anyway, it was an awesome time- and I wished we could stay forever. But, real life calls.

Next Up: It's Summer-er, which means it's blanket fort season!
