Is it just me, or has time slowed down in the last week? It sure feels like it.
Here in Florida some things opened today. I got lots of emails from restaurants letting me know their dining rooms are open. Today the zoo announced they would be opening "on or around" June 1st, and I hear barber shops/salons will be opening soon.
We're still staying home though. Waiting to see how this all plays out, you know? A new model came out today, predicting we'll have up to 3,000 deaths a day, and 200,000 new cases a day by June. Hopefully those models will be way off. But, it's not a good look for how things will go in May.
In the meantime, it's business as usual today. I did all my Monday stuff: laundry, cleaning (my bathroom shower has never been whiter!) and I took Ellie on the loop. Plus, I switched out Grant's birthday wall for Monroe's, which we're celebrating tomorrow.
And then Hayden and I made an art museum for the neighborhood.
He took out his art book and picked two paintings he thought he could recreate (I ended up doing three, but mine are much smaller than Haydens).
We took a couple pictures of our finished products, before we decided we needed to wait until the sun was in a different position, so we went out later tonight to capture them.
If you don't live in our neighborhood, don't worry, we took pictures so you can virtually experience our art museum.
Our first painting you'll find is Starry Night.
Followed by a lovely Monet painting.
And another Van Gogh.
Not to be missed is "Tiger in a Tropical Storm" , though you might also know it by "Surprise!"
Finally, before you leave be sure to catch "The Scream".
Thanks for visiting, and come back again soon!
We've had quite a few visitors today. Calib, Peyton, and Asa all came to check it out, and we've seen people admiring our work through the windows.
Of course today is May the 4th (aka Star Wars Day), so while Peyton played Animal Crossing all day, Hayden's been binging Star Wars movies. (The Rise of Skywalker came out a couple months early on Disney Plus today!)
Out in the garden, we've spotted quite a few hummingbirds lately on the fire bush, so we thought we'd help them out .
And I got a huge harvest in the garden today. They made a nice addition to tonight's dinner.
Calib worked on some math with grandma today (she used an outer space background today for Star Wars day), it's the only class he has left. It should have been over by now, but it's going on until May 17th. Gross.
Asa is on his long day today, but he did manage to sneak in an evening walk.
If you're wondering how we're all feeling today, he's the rundown.
And I thought I'd snap a couple pictures so you could see what the majority of quarantine looks like here at the Waterstrauts. You'll find Peyton on the computer talking to his friends, and Asa working.
Calib can be found playing video games, or playing video games.
And Hayden has basically lived in the tent in the living room for the last couple weeks.
Current binge watching obsession: Billions, and Afterlife. It's not a terrible combo.
Most popular game: Animal Crossing for Peyton today, Civ 4 for Hayden and Asa, and NCAA for Calib.
Boredness scale 1 to 10: 6. I got ancy today after I got bored with cleaning.
Frozen II Watchthroughs: 30. No new ones today. We've been watching Star Wars all day for May the 4th day.
Trips to the store: 4 (2 Publix, 1 Costco, 1 Lowes), and four take out trips (Capital Tacos, 2 PDQ, and a Blaze DIY Pizza Kit) Does Panera count as a store or take out trip?
Grocery Deliveries: 8 (4 Costco, 4 Publix)
Food Delivery Nights: 7 (Greenland Grill & Taco Bell, and BJ's, McDonalds, Capital Tacos and 2 Wawa)
How many times we've walked the loop: 36. Twice today. (Which is good, because I had an ice cream cookie sandwich on a Monday).
Days Down: 52
Days Remaining: Undetermined. But probably 27 more. That's how far we are from June 1st.
