Social Distancing Journal, Days 303 thru 312

Day 303, Sunday January 10

We could all use some dog snuggles these days.

And a little sunshine and good thoughts. Some more pictures from DC...

Though it is sad to see the Capitol so locked down.

But hey, want some cheering up? You can watch the NFL on Nickelodeon!

We also finished a quick 500 piece puzzle.

And got some wawa drinks during some errands.

Day 304, Monday January 11

Started a new book for Finer Things. Seemed relevant.

Dipper has found a new home on top of the toilet we're yet to install.

Day 305, Tuesday January 12

Misfits box day!

Love my fresh produce delivered to my door.

Some weird shaped parsnips and some HUGE radishes this time.

Hayden got to doing his Tinkering Tuesday work.

And he made us "Trailer Mac" for dinner.

Delicious.

We finished up the day with some games.

And Dipper still in my room.

Etta, meanwhile made herself cozy on the beanbag.

Day 306, Wednesday January 13

Woke up to pictures all over Twitter about the National Guard sleeping in the Capitol. We haven't seen this stuff since the Civil War (even then Confederate troops never got closer than about 5 miles away).

Sometimes though, you have to pull yourself away from the news and Twitter and go for a walk. Nature makes it better.

Wednesday, though, was also Impeachment #2 day for Trump.

Yay history!

The debate went on for hours.

Oh, and don't forget there is a raging (and I do mean raging) Pandemic ongoing. All of Florida is now in the red or dark red.

And then the vote!

History. Impeached for a Second time for "Inciting an Insurrection"

Nancy Pelosi got to preside over not one, but two Trump impeachments (and fun fact: she wore the same dress for both of them).

But, man. Just. This.

Since I couldn't go get a paper, I did take a lot of screenshots of them.

Day 307, Thursday January 14

Impeachment talk still going strong.

And now we find out the National Mall will be closed for the Biden/Harris Inauguration.

We did decide to get out for the afternoon. A beach day! And a Picnic (just down at the sand volleyball court at the park).

But mom treated us to any two things we wanted at Costco, and I went for uncrustables. We used to get them all the time when we went places. But, we don't go places anymore. So I haven't had a good uncrustable, chips, and juice box for lunch in probably over a year. It tasted like leaving the house!

We played some games and enjoyed the sunshine and then walked the loop.

Another interesting tweet.

But the 14th meant it was mom's half birthday! And we couldn't be with her for her 70th birthday in July, so we celebrated her half birthday with her instead!

We had Red Lobster take out to celebrate.

And cake! Complete with "70" and a half candles.

And since the table wasn't needed for awhile, we started on the next puzzle.

Day 308, Friday January 15

Entering the last weekend of his presidency, Trump isn't polling so well.

But hey, it's also worth noting the Browns were still in the playoffs, and they apparently have support here in WLP!

Oh and remember that squirrel? His nest fell out of the tree.
In case you missed it: A squirrel has been stealing stuffing out of my hammock pillow for weeks now, using it and palm fronds to build a nest. Today it fell out of the tree and I felt so bad. Like can you imagine the horror that poor squirrel felt when weeks of hard work went crashing toward the ground?
I convinced Asa to let me put it back up, after he lectured me about natural selection and how now I'm contributing to the next generation of squirrels not being able to secure nests in trees.

Oh and look who is winning the work-week challenge!

I even got a trophy!

Day 309, Saturday January  16

So hey, turns out you don't even need to wear shoes out and about if you're only doing curbside pick up. Pandemic upside!

Here's a cute Ellie picture for you.

On the downside, the whole Sattler family should have been at Disney this weekend, seeing my niece play with her band. And staying in a super cool villa at the Boardwalk. But, you know, Covid.
So mom suggested we get food like we were at Epcot eating around the world.

So we ordered a bunch of delivery, put on our Disney attire and we ate around the world. (Fun fact: bread pudding, Poutine and fish and chips just taste like Disney!)
We also checked the Test Track wait. It was 75 minutes so we decided against it.

I even made flags for all our food: world showcase countries only.

We had Capital Tacos chips, queso, and mini churros.

A Greenland Grill sampler platter for Morocco.

Egg Rolls in China.

Of course, I wore my ears and mom wore her Mickey shirt.

We had crepes (sweet AND savory) for France.

And Asa and I put on our "I'm celebrating" buttons.

We got Poutine from Canada!

And fish and chips and bread pudding for the UK.

And some giant pretzels for Germany.

And some funnel cake fries for America.

It was a lot of food. We've had leftovers for days. But it was also SO MUCH FUN!!

That night, Etta was farting up a storm though. Everyone was covering their noses frequently (Calib is my favorite in this picture).

Day 310, Sunday January  17

Sunday the Bucs were playing the Saints in the Divisional Round of the Playoffs. Calib insisted we do "something big" because we didn't expect to win, and we had no idea when we'd see the Bucs in the playoffs again (it had been 13 years since they've been there, so it's a valid argument). I wondered if we could get a really big pizza. Enter Hawkeyes Pizza on Uber Eats and their 'Giant Pizza'/.

This 28 inch pizza is HUGE.

Check us out in our Bucs gear with the pizza.

Impressive, right?

The slices are SO big.

It's like Jumbo Slice!

We filled up on pizza before the game started and then we watched in anticipation of losing to the Saints, as we had done twice this year and every single meeting since our last win week one of 2018.

Here we go!

Winner gets Green Bay on Championship Sunday.

And you guys, something AMAZING happened. The Bucs fricken WON. We were totally freaking out because we really, really didn't think it was going to happen. And to top it all off, Drew Brees is probably retiring and we got to be the ones to take him out.

We won by 10. SHOCKING, doesn't even describe it. We were TOTALLY freaking out.

YOU GUYS, THIS IS NOT A DRILL, WE ARE GOING TO CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY!! Now, we probably won't win. We play notoriously bad in the cold. But, stranger things have happened. And we did beat Green Bay earlier this season. Still, it's unlikely. And that's fine. Because we made it this far, and that's a miracle. And yes, we did sell our souls for Tom Brady. But, I have three words for you: totally worth it.

Move us all to Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.

And now, I get to post fun Bucs screenshots!

Wanna know what else was amazing on Sunday? We were able to nab mom an appointment for a Vaccine on Tuesday! What an amazing day!

Day 311, Monday January  18

Still working on that puzzle. Good thing it was a long weekend!

Worked on our new calendar. Not a lot there- but what is there is nothing short of AMAZING.

Making progress.

And done! This was a tough one.

And then we spent the night playing more games.

As DC prepares for the Biden inauguration.

Gorgeous. I wish I could go to *this* inauguration. But, alas. Nobody can.

And today! Day 312, Tuesday January  19

We're almost there, people!

The last day Trump will be president! It was a good day here. One of the best in quarantine.

It started out a little chilly...

But it warmed up.

And Hayden and I worked on our VERY. LAST. PRESIDENT. I am three weeks late. But, for a year long project in 2020/2021, I think being only three weeks off is pretty much finishing early. The last president of them all: Andrew Johnson.

I had my Lincoln/Johnson attire on for the occasion.

I feel like on the last day of Trump, Andy Johnson was a good president to do.

Hayden did his final drawing.

And cemented in his rating of Dumpster Fire to National Treasure, which ironically runs Trump to Washington.

His first lady dream team remained unchanged, here's where his final team landed.

So, just like that we're done. And I've done this whole project two times. Tomorrow, for inauguration day, we'll be playing True American. But to help out the mom's and Calib's of the world, I wrote everyone up on the chalk board for a cheat sheet.

And, I got to add Joe Biden's name to the jar of presidents.

And while we worked on all that, guess who went out and got their first dose of their Covid vaccine? Mom! She'll get her second dose in four weeks, hang out for a couple to build her immunity and head home. But we're all breathing a sigh of relief that she was able to get it.

There was a sad milestone today though. 400,000 reported deaths due to Covid. Tragic.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris paid tribute to the lives lost.

But man, this is all so weird.

With or without a mall full of cheering supporters though, Democracy wins. Love wins.

And tomorrow the page turns. I cannot wait.

In personal news, Peyton passed his math test today. MATH, guys. It's his kryptonite. It's why he was home schooled in the beginning. But, he worked for months and passed it on his second try. Grandma celebrated with take out from anywhere Peyton wanted. He picked sushi from Ginza.

There was just a lot to celebrate today. Last  president taught. Last day Trump will be president. The Bucs are still going to Championship Sunday. Mom got the vaccine and Peyton passed his math class. Just, an awesome day.

And tomorrow, we celebrate.
