Finishing up February

I've been keeping up pretty good on the gardening blog, but the last time I left you with a regular blog, everyone was out on a deep sea fishing adventure. Well, they had an awesome time, and are hoping to go again with the Harvison's in the fall. I'll let Asa's pictures do the talking..

While they were out fishing, I was busy hanging with the dogs, reading, and watching Hamilton with Hayden.

While they couldn't keep most of the big fish (they weren't in season), they did bring home a whole bounty of fish.

Some of us had the fish for days for breakfast lunch and dinner (I believe this picture was taken like 8 am the morning after fishing- everyone was so early to bed that night we were up and around early the next morning!)

I am not a huge fish person, but I did enjoy some fish tacos and some fish and chips.

Of course, it's also strawberry season around here. And is it even strawberry season if you don't go to Plant City? Our first stop was Parksdale for some strawberry shortcake.

We also picked up some plants, and then swung by another farm stand for even more plants and veggies.

And then we were off to Keel Farms for their Strawberry Bash!

It was our first time at Keel Farms, usually they give all kinds of tours- but with the strawberry bash going on, it was more like a little market, and some upick, a couple of outdoor bars and some live music. As always, there were a couple goats to pet, and a pig to hang out with.

And obviously some delicious ciders at the outdoor bar- the strawberry shortcake cider is one of my favorite all time drinks. It's up there with POG juice mimosas, you guys. We knew we liked Keel Farm ciders because they carry them at our local Total Wine & More. But this is a limited edition you can only get at the winery, and it's a winner, guys.

One of the cute little vendors at the market had succulents. That's cool, everyone always has those. But, this tent was different. It was a Succulent Bar!

You didn't just pick out a succulent, you got to pick out everything- You chose a pot, then a succulent.

Then they pot it all up for you.

And then you get to choose TOPPINGS! And there are so many toppings to choose from.

I was so excited about the toppings you guys. It was just such a cute idea.

And look how cute it came out? I love it!

Anyway, we also had some strawberry snacks- the churros with strawberry glaze were not to be missed!

And before we left we had to stop by the store, where Asa was very excited to find out you can build your own six pack. I was very excited to find out they had cans of the strawberry shortcake kind.

So, I filled one of Asa's six pack slots, but he got the rest.

We also had still not gotten our February free chicken salad chick, so we headed out to do that.. And when we swung by the library we noticed I'm totally famous! Crafting with Corinne is being promoted on the board!

Hayden also passed his very last WGU Academy class, and officially gets to be a full-fledged WGU college student. So, we had taco bell to celebrate.

And with that, February comes to a close and we move on to March... the most important thing of all was added to the calendar first- Asa's 40th Birthday!

I usually leave you with Waterstraut pet pictures. I think when I last left you with that we were waiting to hear on the vet for Ellie. Well, it turns out Ellie is feeling so well (eating good, chasing lizards, playing around) and acting so normal, they didn't think they needed to see her back right away, because if her liver was an issue, we'd know based on not eating and just basic lethargy. So, while that could still happen at any time, she's clearly not in discomfort. Instead of running scans, they just gave her a refill of her meds. So keep sending good thoughts for Miss Els-a-Bels. She is the heart and soul of the Waterstraut pet world.

I leave you though, with some Waterstraut pet pictures (look how nice they all have "fancy" dinner together- thats what we call the canned food we've been mixing in to make sure Ellie can take her stuff on a full stomach).

Next up: Hello March!
