Social Distancing Journal, Days 293 thru 298

 Day 293, Thursday December 31

The last day of the year, and Florida hit the most cases ever in the Pandemic. Not a good thing.

We masked up and headed out to curbside pick up to get some goodies to celebrate the new year.

Cookies and Donuts for everyone!

And of course we had decorations.

Checking out the count..

Eating some donuts.

Working on a Ravensburger Disney: My favorite!

And for dinner: a New Years Eve spread fit for a king!

We also all got some shirts for the occasion.

We had some drinks in the blanket fort.

And finished the puzzle.

We also had party hats. We got to write something to do in 2021. We didn't want to aim too big. Asa wants to make his own wawa coffee again.

Hayden wants to go to the library again.

Grandma also gave out awards. But, it was part of her 'don't get got' challenge we have going on.

And we had photo props!

Hayden got to drink out of his 2020 glass one last time in 2020.

And we played some games. Donner Dinner Party is a new favorite. But we also taught grandma how to play Among Us.

And we still had the big TV in the bedroom to catch New Years Eve coverage. Weird in a Pandemic. No screaming people in Times Square. Lots of masks. Everything virtual.

But hey, 2021 should be better right?

We did all make it to midnight though, and watch the countdown.

As Calib and Hayden furiously tried to watch the Office before it left Netflix. They watched all 9 seasons in 10 days.

Porkchop even got in on the festivities.

And Phenom too.

Etta was less than thrilled with the fireworks going off.

Happy New Year Everyone!

 Day 294, Friday January 1

Our hopes for the new year.

We decided to pull out Hayden's Monsters Inc Puzzle. It was only 700 pieces, so we thought we'd set a timer and try to get it done within an hour and half.

It took closer to two. But still, it was fun to do it that way.

Other than that, it was just a cozy, lazy day. Dipper had the right idea.

Day 295, Saturday January 2

I hit the lottery on Amazon and was able to order three whole canisters of lysol wipes!

There was also a squirrel in the backyard we had been watching for awhile.

He was stealing stuffing out of my really beat up hammock's pillow.

He'd stuff it all in his mouth and make a run for it to go build a nest out of it.

We also spent some time in the blanket fort. Drinks, cards, snacks and Disney Plus in a blanket fort lit by Christmas lights is what everyone needs to get through this Pandemic.

Oh, and Asa's pajama pants I ordered on DECEMBER 12TH!!! Finally showed up.

We celebrated the new year with steaks on the grill for dinner.

And Apple Pie for dessert.

And some more games.

Day 296, Sunday January 3

One last regular season taco bar!

Usually this would be the Bucs last game of the season (but we made the playoffs! For the first time since the 2007 season!!)

Still, I will miss taco bars.

A cute Ellie picture for you.

Day 297, Monday January 4

Another stimulus check came for us on Monday, so we did our part and ordered from Greenland Grill, a local place we love, to put some of it into small business. It's a stimulus check tradition these days!

It was also pretty cold on Monday. You know, Miss Ohio over here was bundled up to go on her evening walk... and it was like 50. Apparently your blood can thin pretty fast.

Day 298, Tuesday January 5

It was election day in the Georgia runoffs. I didn't have high hopes that the Democrats would win both seats, and thus tie the Senate at 50-50 (giving the majority to the Democrats because of new VP Kamala Harris getting to be the tie breaker). But still, we nervously turned on CNN to see John King back at the magic wall.

Also, at this point, Pasco County was using Eventbrite to schedule vaccine appointments. At 2 and 3 everyday for a couple days they released 100 vaccination spots. All six of us tried to nab a spot. None of us were successful. The program was suspended by the end of the week with no new info on vaccines available. Bummer.

Hayden and I also worked on our second to last president: Woodrow Wilson! He was president when women got the right to vote, so I was dressed for the occasion!

It was also a misfits day though, and I love misfits days!

It's something to look forward to in Covid times for sure.

Peyton even requested to add a few mushrooms to make us all dinner on Tuesday.

Not bad, right? It was delicious!

We spent the evening watching Walle. I still contend it's like the best social commentary Pixar movie, and it totally holds up.

Next Up: 2021 is about to get bat shit crazy.
