After skipping Olympic events yesterday to go to Epcot's Festival of the Arts, we were back on it today, with Day 13 of the Olympic Games.
Our spotlight country today would not require a meal, since we're finally getting around to having our Valentines Day meal from my mom. This was such a tough one, Hayden didn't even submit a guess. But, Peyton got it correct with East Timor
Today we were betting on Mens Short Track- 5000 meter relay. Once again, it paid for Hayden to bet on Canada. They took home the gold. Meanwhile, South Korea got the silver, and Italy went home with the bronze. So, no payouts for Peyton or Calib.
Before we got to today's event, I had to do a little ski fixing. Calib and Hayden's weren't holding up so good after the Biathlon. Fun fact: I am on my third roll of duct tape for this Olympics.
Our event today was Downhill Skiing. Of course, our lot is pretty flat. The only "downhill" part is the driveway. So, I set up cones for them to go in and out of while wearing their skis and timed them from start to finish, with a 5 second penalty for any cones hit.
Calib was up first, and opted for no poles (a choice I believe hurt his chances for gold).
Peyton showed up sporting his shirt (they all did, but I think this might be the first time Peyton remembered his).
He navigated in and out pretty fast, and found his poles to be helpful.
Hayden was up last..
He actually ran the course faster than Peyton, but got a penalty for hitting a cone. So, Peyton came out the winner.
Your 2022 Downhill Skiing medalists..
For dinner, like I said, we didn't have a country, but our Valentines Day dinner from my mom. We went with Hungry Harry's BBQ. The boys decided on it pretty quickly, so I was happy about that. And we got to eat outside, because it's SO nice outside. (You guys, we have an 88 degrees in the forecast! Winter might be over!)
A look at your leaderboard after Day 13.
