Olympics Day 5: Curling

Tuesday we were off to Venice for the day, so we didn't have a country, just an event with Curling. Funny enough my Facebook memories that morning had us doing Curling exactly four years ago, too.

Basically all you need for Curling is some painters tape to make a board, and some ice pucks. I guess you could use ice cubes, but I prefer to freeze a couple of bowls of water to get some big ice pucks.

Then, you probably want to grab a broom from the dollar store. You could use your normal broom, but things get intense, and if something should happen, the broom wasn't one you use, just something from the dollar store.

Everyone got two turns to push the ice block onto the score board. You were supposed to keep your broom behind the starting line (ahem, Asa... this picture could give the Olympic committee pause).

It's even more controversial, since Asa ended up winning the whole thing. Mom won the Bronze, and she was pretty excited about picking a Sour Patch Kid from the Bronze Bowl.

Our Official Curling winners.

We recorded the medals for the day to our board.

And tallied up the results for our winners.

That day the boys also heard back from the Home Office about their picture identifications for the week. Peyton and Hayden each had one incorrect the Home Office suggested they take another stab at. But they got their 'compensation' in the form of a dime for each 'easy' one they got correct, and a quarter for each 'difficult' one they got correct. They also received some Austrian cookies and some South African hot sauce for their troubles.

In addition, there were six more pictures they needed to identify.

That was it for Curling Day!

Next Up: Ice Dancing & Laos
