Hey guys! Back with another quarantine week (or so) in review for you. While Florida has passed 600,000 cases and 10,000 deaths in the past few days, things seem to be coming under control. But, I don't put a ton of stake in that because our testing is way down, and the positivity rate being reported by the state is featuring double negatives, but not double positives.
So, we'll see. Maybe things are better. Maybe they're not. Who really knows? And, I wish I knew. I want to make data driven decisions, but it's hard to get data that isn't being skewed one way or another. Such is life in the Trump administration, I suppose.
Monday, August 17, Day 157:
It was a rainy, dreary Monday, and this was just about the only picture I took that day.
But I did also reorganize my closet, move things to the office closet, and reorganize the plant shelf in my room. You know, boring Monday stuff, which is usually laundry and some project.
Tuesday, August 18, Day 158:
So this is what I'm talking about with Florida. Our testing is terrible. Why? Because we want lower numbers? Because there's less demand? I honestly don't know. But, the positivity rate is also questionable. Florida's been reporting we're in the single digits, 5% even! That's enough to open schools!
Meanwhile, John Hopkins reports us at a much higher positivity rate. And frankly, I trust that more than the Florida Department of health.
Hayden and I meanwhile are soaking in the last of summer vacation, before we get back into normal loads of school work. But, I mean, who doesn't want to spend their days watching Hamilton in a blanket fort. That's about as fun as life gets these days.
We also celebrated Herbert Hoover's birthday a bit late. He's my birthday twin, so I got a Hooverball shirt for my birthday!
And Hayden drew his Herbert Hoover drawing.
Speaking of birthday gifts, I also got some new Disney shirts. But they are taking FOREVER to get here. Why? Well, because USPS was experiencing delays. Because, Trump. This is where we are now. Our mail is getting delayed so he can cry about mail in voting. Meanwhile, I just want my stuff I ordered!! (I have ordered a ton of stuff from Kohl's over the years, and this is literally the first time I've gotten this email).
Calib lined up blankets to make a slip n slide. Basically it just amounted to getting rug burn, though.
Oh, and we watched the DNC. I loved roll call, where they went to each state to get the delegate count. So fun. I'm hoping to do something similar for our candy bar election.
Wednesday August 19, Day 159:
Morning coffee with my snuggle buddy Etta.
Followed by a morning walk with my other snuggle buddy, Asa.
Oh, and I noticed we have some lemons to pick!
Hayden and I went down and played some Tennis.
And Calib got his last set of free books. That's over $500 worth of books for his three books for this semester. Why are they so friggen expensive?!
We also pulled out puzzle number 18 of quarantine.
It was our first of the four pack of the Haunted Mansion paintings. It's funny, the pieces are all squished like the paintings are!
And another walk. It was a nice day- hot, but not humid (a rarity in August in Florida)
And we got a plant gifted to us by our neighbor.
Thursday August 20, Day 160:
So, turns out most the puzzle was pretty easy. But those blue pieces gave us some trouble.
Asa and I went to get take out for dinner and found a stowaway. We pulled over to rescue him.
Oh, and this was coming! Double hurricanes in the Gulf. This never happens. Lucky for us, neither ended up coming this way. But that one that they originally thought might come here, Laura, is now over the gulf and gaining steam because of the warm waters. It might not be so good for Texas or Louisiana in a few days.
Friday, August 21, Day 161:
We finally decided to pick our first lemon! We planted this tree when Asa got laid off from Verizon so one day we could make lemonade out of our lemons!
And we finished puzzle #18
So it was on to puzzle #19, another 500 piece one.
Which didn't take us long at all. We finished same day.
We also made foil dinners on the grill, which were delicious and totally customizable.
Saturday, August 22, Day 162
So, I saw this on Saturday and thought, "In 2020, I don't like those odds"
But I also noted that things are looking a little less dire in Florida. We're not even in orange anymore!
Asa and I did an after dinner walk.
And there was rock band, and Ellie playing with her stuffed animals- getting stuffing all over the house.
Sunday, August 23, Day 163
Asa and I did our usual Sunday bike ride.
And had Mickey Waffles for brunch.
And I did make some lemonade out of that lemon!
We filled up the backyard pool to hang out.
And we painted some more balloons on our fence mural.
And we grilled out, yet again.
We zoomed with my family, and finished up Sunday with an evening walk. So, not a bad weekend.
Monday August 24, Day 164
School in Pasco County started today! Not sure how that's going to go, but sending my best wishes to all those teachers!
We also tried to squeeze in an evening walk before the rain. But, I must have miscalculated how much time we had before it poured down on us.
I did take a cute picture of Etta yesterday, she even looked at the camera.
And finally, today , day 165, Tuesday, August 25
Basically all we did today was Bill Clinton's birthday. Hayden is 14 now, so he gets the whole Bill Clinton story, not the edited version he got 5 years ago.
And that's it. Lets get an updated count.

Puzzles completed: 19 (Periodic Table, Track & Field, Villains times 2, Chicago, 2 Pixar Ravensburger Puzzles, the 4 pack of 500 piece Disney Puzzles, the impossible Mickey Puzzle, the Princess Puzzle, the Silhouette puzzle, Tangled, and the 9-in-1 Ravensburger, Brown Frozen, Haunted Mansion 1, Disneyland Poster 1).
Boredness scale 1 to 10: Depends on the time of day. We're really all over the place here.
