2020(1) Summer Games Day 7: Cycling

It's Day 7 of our Olympics! The featured Country was Turkey, but only Hayden and Peyton got it correct (Calib thought it was Ukraine), and our event for the day was cycling.

But in Tokyo it was Women's Gymnastics team final day. I had joked the night before to see if anyone wanted to get up at 6am to watch the final live instead of on tape delay with the primetime broadcast, and shockingly enough, I got people on board!

It might be because I offered McDonald's for breakfast, even Calib was able to hang out before he headed off to work. Of course, then Simone Biles had to withdraw (good for her!), but we still got to see team USA win the silver!

We also kept tabs on the Equestrian Dressage, which is amazing. It's basically horse dancing.

Dinner was supposed to be Menemen from our Turkey project. But, I wasn't feeling cooking, so instead we grabbed a bunch of our around the world to celebrate one week of Olympics and did a dinner of around the world snacks. (I have lots of those)

We did have an item from Turkey though: Havuc Roceli, which translates to Carrot Jam. It's a bit more like Carrot honey. I can't decide if I love it or hate it. It's interesting for sure!

Not too shabby for "throwing some stuff on a plate"

And Hayden loves when I make dinner like this.

Calib showed up midway through dinner, with a new Costco membership and a bunch of beer.

But he also brought us some chips and guac from work to add to our meal.

A tiring day, with Calib working = one easy event.

Welcome to Cycling, aka Mario Kart, Bikes Only, No Items. 8 random races to determine a winner.

This score a little more than half way through is surprising to nobody.

One last race, which was basically meaningless.

Your Cycling gold medalist.

On the podium..

And an update on where everyone currently stands in the overall medal count.

The boys placed their best on Cycling for the Men's Road Time Trials.
Medals went to Slovenia, Netherlands and Australia. So, no pay outs today.
