Game 7: For All the Marbles!

Hey guys, a couple weeks behind here- but there has actually been some things going on. So, lets get to them!

Peyton passed his math class in three weeks flat! Math, people! That's where he struggles. And he did it in THREE WEEKS! So, grandma treated us to some PDQ for dinner to celebrate. He's all done with his term- that isn't over until the end of July!

Calib got a job, which I'm sure I mentioned last time. Now that we're all fully vaccinated, it's time to go back out into the world. But, he's got to get up at like 7:45, and he's not great at getting up to an alarm. I'm also not going to get him up that early, because Asa and I aren't up that early, and he's way too old for me to have to wake up early to make sure he gets out of the house on time.

Hayden said he would do it, for a price. He told Calib he would charge $1 a day. And Calib came home and gave Hayden $1 in change from his tips everyday. Which, Hayden didn't love. A couple of weeks went by and the deal changed- Calib would bring home dinner for Hayden from Chipotle once a week. That lasted another week, until Hayden quit his job siting poor working conditions, and not being able to go back to sleep. So, Peyton took over. And now, Calib is skipping his free meal the day he works, to bring that home to Peyton, so he's not actually paying anything.

So, it's a whole thing. But, I don't have to get up, so I don't really care. I'm particular about my mornings. I'm going to need to sleep until at least 8:30, and then have my coffee before anyone bothers me (and sometimes Asa makes it all real special for me... see below).

Of course, it's blanket fort time. Which means snacks and drinks in the fort. Which, is pretty much the best thing ever.

Asa was back at work after our week away at Disney- and Etta was so sad he had shut himself in the office. She just whines and whines outside the office door. It's so sad.

Ellie, meanwhile, is not thrilled with Calib's sleep schedule. She was real tuckered out.

We were still house sitting though, so we had some time to have dinner over by the pool.

And Calib went to pick up some Capitol Taco's fries to go along with our cookout. (They were delicious, two thumbs up, highly recommend!)

And we had one more movie night at the pool.

Ratatouille + Snacks + Pool = Lovely evening.

And of course, more Catan.

Catan. Pool.

Catan. Repeat.

And... a Dipper picture for good measure.

We added a bit of lighting to the blanket fort (good for Catan playing).

And in 'first time since the Pandemic' News, Asa and I went INTO Aldi's. This is actually the first time we shopped in store there, ever! (It opened during the pandemic- so we'd always just done curbside.)

And you know, All You Can Swirl is on the way home... so.....

We haven't done a garden check in awhile. It's the summer, so it's usually just peppers. But, we do have a few tomatoes growing.

And a ton of bananas!

And the lemon tree is loaded- BUT we also have some limes!

Which we can later use to make drinks- for now, we have to settle for Kirkland Margaritas, though.

House sitting is hard.

Oh, and the Lightning were in the Stanley Cup running again. On this night it was Game 7 against the Islanders. Winner gets into the Stanley Cup finals.

And Calib decided he wanted to use his first paycheck and go to the game! Now usually, this spells bad news for the team Calib is rooting for. (He has a bit of a history).

But lucky for him, the curse has been broken! Spoiler Alert: The Lightning won Game 7... AND THEN THE STANLEY CUP!

But, back to Game 7... Calib went all out, pairing his paycheck with his 'birthday coupon' from me and got himself some really good seats. He was just seven rows up from the ice!

I told him if he was going to get a beer, get one early. He said "why would I get a beer", and I replied "I dunno. Isn't that what you do at a hockey game?" And then, later he sent me this picture.

He had an awesome time. And he really felt like it was money well spent. I mean, yea, it was a game 7 AT HOME, in a semi-post-pandemic world when you're just getting some semblance of normal. So, of course it was amazing! (Maybe someday he'll finally send me his pictures and I'll come back and post them).

But with Calib out and about, we had to have the dogs with us. They are none too pleased when Calib gets home late.

We watched the game in bed with the doggies (the 1-0 score might not have seemed too exciting, but Calib was on the right end- getting to see the one and only goal of the game, and getting to see the Islanders frantically try and score in the final minutes).

And we were so excited when they won!
