Thanksgiving 2021

Catching up on my blogs- lets head back to Thanksgiving. Of course we had our annual donut breakfast while we watched the parade.

And our annual charcuterie while we watched the dog show. Ellie was not amused that she was not represented in the dog show, and we wouldn't give her food off the charcuterie board.

Asa then got to the turkey. I'm telling you guys, ditch the turkey and buy these turkey breast things instead. we've been doing it for a few years now, and everyone agrees it is the way to go. No thawing, no carving, no hours and hours of cooking. And it comes out awesome everytime.

The 2021 Thanksgiving spread.

I put cranberry sauce in my grandmas serving bowl, but I do it this way, so I don't have to wash it out!

Oh, and we were real fancy this year, we had a turkey butter sculpture.

And of course, we added to the table cloth as we do every year.

I also made the dogs all their own little Thanksgiving dinners.

Which they happily gobbled up.

Later that evening, Calib was asking who wanted drinks... which ended up in him proposing an improptu True American game. Hayden claimed he had nothing to take for shots. I told him we had leftover Mac & Cheese from dinner, and he was totally on board.

The rest of us mostly filled the tower with desserts.

And then we played some True American...

Peyton bowed out. He was playing games with his friends. But, Asa and I actually tied, so that's pretty impressive!

The next day Peyton also bowed out of going to Disney to see the Sattlers. He claimed he was taking one for the team and watching the dogs, I just think he didn't want to deal with getting dressed, leaving the house, and dealing with crowds. So, off the four of us went to Winter-Summerland Mini Golf to meet up with Cort and his family.

We had tried to mini golf during my birthday, but that didn't work out. We did, however, get some rain checks that we decided we could use for Thanksgiving. We split up into two teams, and kept a team score.

I was with Cort, Gwen, and Calib.

But the team of Holly, Garrett, Asa and Hayden came out on top.

After mini golf we went back over to Disney Springs for some snacks. We had Poutine,

And nachos.

We also saw a few more trees I had missed the week before. The Nightmare Before Christmas one was pretty cool.

Calib  was not able to get that Friday off work, but he was scheduled to close, so we left in time for him to be back for his shift. For dinner, we had leftovers, of course. Thanksgiving dinner plate #2.

Saturday, Asa and I had errands to run. We swung by Blaze for lunch and paired it with some cheese fries from Aussie grill.

And for dinner, Thanksgiving plate #3.

We also started on on Christmas punch board.

The first game is always the same: You put on oven mitts and try and open a gift that's been wrapped like a million times, before the person after you rolls doubles on two dice and gets to take over the unwrapping.

Always a good time.

And this year, the gift was a popcorn tin.

Another night we played spoons (the card game) with candy cane spoons!

A new thing around here: Chipotle as currency. Calib gets it for free, so he uses it to pay Asa back for favors (mostly like helping him with filling out stuff for USF), but then Asa uses his free Chipotle to get Hayden to do chores, and passes it on to him. I stay out of it, stuff gets done, it's really a win-win for me.

I did wake up one morning to this, too. Asa always gets me coffee in the mornings. But, sometimes I get a little extra. And that's nice.

Speaking of Asa. Not only did he get his new glasses, but for the first time in his life, he also got sunglasses. Total game changer. You know what else is a game changer? An HSA card to pay for it all, so not a single penny comes out of your bank account. Crazy.

The other big news, besides the sunglasses is this: Hayden got his learners permit. Now, he really has no interest in driving (think of him as Peyton 2.0), but an ID is nice to have. At least if he decides he wants to drive he'll have his choice of driving with Asa or Calib, and I can stay out of this one yet again.

Since I had done all my cookie baking pre-Thanksgiving for my mom, I'm using this holiday to try out baking for us. I tried these buckeye bars instead of actual buckeyes, but the ratio was weird. Still, people ate it, but it wasn't the same. Maybe I should try again, the concept after all (most buckeyes, less work) is great!

And once again, I leave you with dog pictures!

Up next: We went somewhere!  To CEO for a gaming tournament.
