Social Distancing Journal, Day 258 thru 262

 Day 258, Thursday November 26

A Pandemic Thanksgiving!

The Macy's Day Parade went on, despite a lot of it being pre-taped and the "parade" lasting all of a couple of blocks in front of Macy's, without any crowds.

But in 2020, you take what you can get.

And you can still get donuts at the drive thru, so I'll take that!

And, I threw together a lunch Thanksgiving charcuterie.

I thought my turkey was pretty great (I forgot to get a pear for the body, but I feel like I made do).

The national dog show also went on. Less dogs. Lots of masks, and cardboard audiences. BUT, there were some dog cut outs in the audience, and that was amazing.

We got out our usual table cloth we write on every year, and I made a (poorly drawn) turkey to denote the weird year.

Also, total bummer: we ordered our new range on October 22nd. It was supposed to be here by Thanksgiving. But, there was a delay because so many people ordered it. So we were stuck with the old one for Thanksgiving for one more year. Broken handle included. Boo.

But we still had a delicious feast.

Lots of food, nothing missing.

I even made cranberries and put them in my grandma's dish.

A giant plate of yumminess.

After dinner, everyone added to the table cloth.

Etta helped do the dishes.

Took a picture of the board for prosperity.

And you can still get a Publix dutch apple pie through curbside pickup.

Plus we got to eat our cookies.

And then we spent the evening playing games.

Ellie and Etta are big fans of grandma.

Day 259, Friday November 27

Took a walk around the loop- found this sign on the ground. I'm actually surprised it stayed up as long as it did. But lets be real, there are a whole lot of people in Florida living completely normally. We have a great big 'things are open and we're not shutting them back down for ANYTHING' mantra going here. Which, just makes me want to stay away from everyone.

Of course, the day after Thanksgiving is for leftovers.

And more games. Hayden wrote "Joanne" as a clue for "Ray", which I enjoyed. Calib didn't get it though.

Day 260, Saturday November 28

We noticed Wilderness Lake all decorated for Christmas on our bike ride.

And some gators were out for the holiday weekend.

Day 3 of Thanksgiving is mostly just a charcuterie board of leftovers I need people to eat.

And we finished another puzzle.

These puzzle pieces are real weird on the 500 piece Disney puzzles. But, they're growing on me.

And then we decorated outside.

And went to pick up a Petsmart curbside order. That was our extent of black friday shopping in 2020.

When we got back the lights looked all pretty.

And then, we watched Scrooge with my mom (my parents saw this movie the night they got engaged- which was just 9 days after their first date).

Day 261, Sunday November 29

It was about to get cold, so we picked the last of the lemons off the lemon tree.

It took us a couple weeks to use the rest of them. That's a lot of lemonade!

Day 262, Monday November 30

Another president's birthday. He's a peek at what my prep work on the morning of a birthday looks like.

And it was a Monday, so Peyton is under those covers displaces from the office. A Pandemic Refugee.

On an afternoon walk we spotted a hula santa.

And when we got back Peyton had figured out a benefit of being out in the family room all day is being able to use the big screen to play his games.

And then it was time for James Garfield's birthday.

Hayden's drawing for Garfield..

Dipper is enjoying the giant bean bag in the living room.

Oh, and Peyton passed his English class, so he was treated to PDQ as a reward.

Up next: December and the Holiday Season!
