Day 9: The Lake House

Saturday morning, I got up in Fremont and helped get everything loaded in the car to take over to the fairgrounds with mom, while everyone else was in Cincinnati at Corts. We were there right at 10am to get everything checked in, and then we headed out.

Meanwhile, Cort and Gwen had some band fundraiser to attend, so Holly took everyone else out to the lakehouse, where we were meeting them. They bought the lakehouse during the Pandemic, so we had not been there yet, and we were excited to check it out. It didn't disappoint. Everyone quickly took to the kyaks and paddleboarding.

Mom and I made one quick stop along the way for provisions.

We didn't all show up until around 4:30, and we were trying to beat the weather (a theme of the weekend), so Cort quickly fired up the boat to get out on the lake before the storm came.

The boat seats up to 8, so Gwen and Peyton stayed behind while the rest of us went out for some tubing. Cort put this big red tube with a back on the boat, and said that one was really hard to fall off of.. though Hayden and Calib and Garrett all found a way.

Lilly also came out on the boat, she doesn't count toward the eight person limit.

After about an hour or so out there, the storms came for us and we had to head back in, as we made our way back to the dock we saw Peyton and Gwen running all around chasing after everything that was blowing away in the wind of the storm. Apparently, that included Peyton's phone. It had been sitting on a blow up raft, and just blew right into the boat area of the dock. Everyone jumped in to help find it, which was awesome, and Asa located it. Shockingly enough, even after about twn minutes in the water, it was totally fine!

Garrett then jumped in the water to celebrate, and I joined him. It was just some wind and rain, no lightning or thunder, so we sawm in the rain, and convinced a bunch of other people to join us.

By the time the rain stopped, we were back on the paddleboard.

And then we decided it had cleared enough that we could go back out on the boat.

Peyton stayed behind to fish.

And grandma stayed behind, too. Peyton did end up catching a couple, a first for Peyton!

This time out on the boat, Asa tried his hand at the giant tube, and Gwen and Asa tried to get up on the kneeboard, though neither of them had much luck.

Everyone was trying to convince me to go, when the thunder started up, so we made a bee line back for the dock. Though, Cort said it would have been much busier on the lake and harder to get in tubing if the weather had been nicer, so you take the good with the bad.

Back at the house, Cort grilled out for everyone for dinner.

While we hung out on the upper deck.

By now it was too rainy to be on the dock, or even the lower deck with the dining table, but we didn't mind having dinner out there.

We spent the evening playing some games.

I learned Gwen is really bad at poker, and Cort is really good.

Meanwhile, downstairs they were playing ping pong and foos ball.

And then there was a Mario Kart tournament of sorts.

The lake house is pretty big- four bedrooms, plus some other couches. Somehow, mom ended up on the couch, and this is Holly trying to convince her she could take a bedroom. (Holly was not successful).

Next Up: One more day at the lakehouse, a frozen tshirt contest, and Calib heads home
