Social Distancing Journal, Day 84, 85 & 86

Hey guys! No blog since Thursday. So lets get you caught up.

Cases are spiking here in Florida. Today's numbers were the first under 1,000 we've seen since last Tuesday (and it's close to 1,000- something like 966). But we hit 1,000 plus something like four or five days in a row. And one of those days was the most ever. BUT the good news is our positivity rate is about 5%.

Of course, that comes on the heels of Friday's movement into "Phase 2". Here's the thing. I understand 1,400 cases now isn't the same as 1,400 before. But, shouldn't we be like 'hey, lets hold up here for a moment and see what happens with these spikes?' instead of 'FULL STEAM AHEAD!" ?

I can only control what I can control. And for now, that's stills staying home. Asa and I actually have plans outside the house for anniversary week though. All thoughtful things we believe are low-risk, and have back up plans if we get there and decide they are not.

We also finally got to talk to a Disney rep who could do something with our reservation. But, the bad news is bad: you can ONLY change your reservation to a DVC resort or Fort Wilderness. And, there are NO DISCOUNTS available. None if you had your reservation impacted and have to move it to a different (much more expensive resort), none for passholders, none for Florida residents. Not even the usual summer "Fun & Sun"  one. Nobody ever stays at Disney full price. And, it is a SIGNIFICANT price jump, to the tune of nearly $300 more a night than our discounted room at Coronado and Caribbean Beach would have been. So, we made the reservation for late July (for our dating/engagement anniversary) but we will see if we keep it. We're hoping a discount comes up between now and then. But at least, as a current reservation holder, my "place in line" is still there.

This weekend we had some outer rain from the Tropical Storm out in the Gulf. It made landfall in Louisiana, but it rained here for like, the whole weekend. My little weather app switched from having a Covid button to a Tropical Storm button. So, I guess were changing things up.

Friday was national donut day. So Hayden and I got out the mini donut maker.

And made little blueberry lemon donuts.

We've also gotten a couple of special deliveries for projects for next week for our anniversary. They're top secret though. But, I think it's going to be awesome. We've actually been ordering a lot of things for the week, but tucking them away to pull them out later. It won't be what we had envisioned. But, it will be fun.

In between rain, we squeezed in one walk around the loop this weekend to add to the tally.

And we fit in a couple of trips to the neighbor's pool.

The water is a little chilly, but you get used to it.

As the rain poured, we had a movie marathon, complete with snacks.

And we did get take out for dinner.

We've also played some Moving Out. The game of Quarantine. Well, that and Civ.

Yesterday we even got Calib to come to the pool with us, so we had to show him how to play "Emoji ball". It's like water polo, with laundry baskets as the goal, and an emjoi beach ball.

Also, Hayden and I have spent the last two months, making sure to do at least one fun thing a day. That's 10 weeks (we must have started nearly 2 weeks in). So what now, do we start over AGAIN?

Most popular "hurricane snacks": Ice cream Drumsticks

Current binge watching obsession: Finished Space Force. It was awful. Peyton is watching it now, despite our warnings. Moving back to Billions, and throwing in a "Modern Love" episode every now and again.

Most popular game: Civ and Moving Out.

Boredness scale 1 to 10: 8. I don't feel great today, I have cramps and I'm just crabby.

Frozen II Watchthroughs: 47. Once Friday, Once Saturday. But none on Sunday.

How many times we've walked the loop: 66. Just that once. I don't even get the loop in walking the dogs anymore. It's too hot for that.

Days Down: 86.

Days Remaining: Undetermined.
