Expect the Unexpected

Holy geez, folks, it is summer out there. The last few days have been seriously hot, and the air is struggling to keep the house under 82 degrees.  Peyton attempted to put a blanket over the sliding glass doors, which helped a bit. (5 points for good thinking!) But still, not awesome. However, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, so I guess we just deal with it. But, it was a hot one (and will be for the next three months). Maybe it's just the fact I'm not leaving the whole month of July per my usual vacation schedule, and knowing I'm going to be here through all of it-- that's throwing me off

So quick blog tonight, as I usually like to get to it before 8pm, and we're pushing 9:30 here.

This morning Asa did some studying, while I did come couponing (I'm going to kill it at Publix tomorrow), cleaned out the fridge and the pantry, and got the boys going with school work.

After lunch, I took Hayden to his summer reading program for the week. It was themed 'choas with colors', and he had all kinds of fun painting art work he could do.

(Sidenote: The librarian warned the parents this would be a messy one, was totally washable and would come out if the kids got it on anything, and a mother leans over to me and says "I should have read about todays event, I wouldn't have brought her if I knew it was going to be this messy". Geesh lady, just let your kids be messy. Childhood is supposed to be the fun kind of messy.

Anyway, he brought it all home and let it dry-- this is his favorite. He even finger painted with it!

Today was Big Brother Day for Reality Show week. If you don't know how big brother works, google it. I told you it was going to be a quick blog.

Everyone got their keys (laminated and on yarn to have around their necks)

For the first HOH, the boys had a 'guess how many' game. They had to guess how many of Hayden's toys were in this pile, how many paperclips were in a cup, and how many kitchen utensils were in the holder.

Peyton ending up winning HOH, and after everyone got 30 seconds to state their case to him in the HOH bedroom (our room), he decided to nominate Asa and Hayden for eviction. Calib was happy to get his key- and be safe (until of course the POV)

The POV was basically Otev. I'd asked a question, in which the answer was one of the five of us. In the baby pool (filled with water, dishsoap, food coloring, toys, cotton balls and shaving cream-- I told you childhood is messy) was our names (laminated). Last person to retrieve the correct name after each question was eliminated.

Asa ended up with the golden power of veto, which he used to save Hayden. Asa and Calib we're still both up on the block, and Calib was evicted.

Since we were down to three- it was time for the three part HOH competition. In a box full of paper and newspaper, their were paper letters cut out. First person to get the whole alphabet moved on to the last HOH competition.

This was much more intense than I anticipated.

And it ended up making quite the mess.

But, Asa won.

Which left Hayden and Peyton to face off in the second of the three part HOH competition. The cooler behind them was filled with water. The first person to use the cup to overflow their gallon jug, was the winner.

It was close, but Peyton pulled ahead and won.

Which left Peyton and Asa competing for the final HOH spot. Calib (the evicted house guest) was given a survey with questions such as 'who would you least like to see win Big Brother', and then Peyton and Asa had to choose which way Calib answered (multiple choice).

Asa won, three questions to one and chose to evict Peyton. Apparently, Asa had tried to make an alliance earlier with Peyton, and he refused. But, then Hayden and Asa had to face questions from the angry evicted house guests.

Asa implored Calib and Peyton to vote for Hayden, so of course-- they voted Asa the winner of Big Brother.

After all the madness that was today, Asa took me out to dinner at Aquafinz. It's a nice little place really close to our house, and it's often featured on Amazon Local (for $15 you get $30 off your bill). Except, we've been entering the M&M's movie giveaway each day (it just takes a minute, and if you win you get $6 which you can cash in on Amazon-- we've won three times!) So using all that, it was pretty much free. It was $5 over, plus tip- but still, a totally good deal.

And I got creme brulee cheesecake.

We all just finished watching Big Brother, it was the premere tonight, so that's why we scheduled Reality Show Week for this week.

In case you're wondering how things are going on the Dipper and Maybel front; they're getting along much better, and even starting to play together.

And Dipper is just as cute as ever.

Last night he fell asleep upside down, between my pillows.

Next Up: Survivor Day!
