Social Distancing Journal, Day Nine

I'm nto sure our number today. Last I heard the US was at 32,000 cases, most of those in New York. I know Trump gave another bat shit crazy news conference where he doesn't commit to not taking bailout money for his hotels, and sarcastically said "gee, that's too bad" about Mit Romney having to go into isolation because he was potentially exposed by idiot Rnad Paul, who got tested and then went and used the gym and pool on Capitol Hill (which also begs the question why were the gym and pool still open)?

Which reminds me, I keep seeing new places in Florida close, today it was the SeaLife Aquarium and the ferris wheel at ICON park in Orlando, and I'm like, how was this not closed before? It's because Florida who now reports over 1,000 cases (it's WAY more, I promise), refuses to mandate anything get shut down. Pinellas county closed their beaches. But, they still had plenty of people ignoring the order on the Gandy Beach today. Beaches all over the state are still packed, and people are congregating at sand bars too. The Miami mayor today had to close marnias and boat launches so people couldn't go out there to party. So while states with way less cases like Ohio and Delaware and Louisiana start issuing shelter in place orders, our Governor is still doing jack shit. Yesterday he said maybe we should use hotels to isolate patients but still said he wasn't considering a shelter in place order. It's bananas.

For the most part though, we are sheltering in place. Bike rides don't count, right? Asa and I took our normal Sunday bike ride this morning through our neighborhood and Connerton. Look at us practicing social distancing.

Along the trail someone had written postive messages in sidewalk chalk, and it brightened our day.

We didn't touch anything while we were out either, Asa used his foot again for the crosswalk. We also decided not to go through the Groves (the 55 and up community) just in case.

We did pass a girl with headphones singing at the top of her lungs, a baby gator, and a couple of baby cranes that we stopped and watched for awhile. Their parents were pulling bugs out of the ground to feed them, it was so cute.

Plus, I mean, we had nowhere to be. Everything's closed, and we're practicing social distancing!

We did film the Chocolate Party debates today, so if you haven't seen them yet, go check them out.  Peyton's Ghirideli voice is amazing, and made me laugh till I cried.

Here's a little behind the scenes photos for you, too.

Mostly we all just kind of hung out today. I worked on Grover Cleveland, Hayden played Animal Crossing, and Peyton ate dry fruity pebbles in his pajamas. Par for the course.

I did get to pick some more green beans for dinner!

In our garden check, I thinned out the radishes a little more, and something is eating my squash. Lets hope these three survive.

We had hot dogs, homemade fries and veggies for dinenr tonight, and just to enjoy the nice, warm, non-humid weather, we ate on the back porch.

And then the boys invented a new game with the sidewalk chalk and the basketball hoop.

I didn't take a picture of bingo today, but we didn't check anything off anyway. We are taking bets on when we think Disney will open back up, though.
