2020 (1) Summer Games, Day 17: Closing Ceremonies

Usually I'd have some big thing for Closing Ceremonies. But, by the time we got around to them, the Tokyo Games had been closed for over a week. After we got back from my BIrthday Extravagnza, Calib went off to Ohio for a long weekend. He got back at 9:30 pm, and had to work 12 hours later. Plus, Asa was slammed that Tuesday. So, it wasn't until Wednesday the 18th that we finally tallied up the winners and handed out the medals. By then it seemed weird to do a whole thing.

After tallying up the medals for the Spotlight countries, The Grand Total resulted in a tie at 60 points between Calib and Peyton. Since I didn't have two gold medals, I decided the fairest way to break the tie was to give the medal to Calib who willingly participated in the most events. Peyton opted out of five. Calib missed two because of work (Hayden, for his part, didn't miss a single event). I ran the plan by Peyton and he agreed.

Plus the medalists got a whole bowl of candy for the finals, and Peyton liked the silver candy way better than the gold. They also got their payouts.

Your 2020 (1) Summer Olympic Medalists
Calib: Gold
Peyton: Silver
Hayden: Bronze

And then there was only one thing left to do...

Extinguish the Olympic flame. That honor goes to the winner.

So sad. But, on the bright side, because of the year long delay thanks to Covid, the Winter Games are less than six months away. And, I have a small glimmer of hope I might get at least some of them to participate one last time. Fingers crossed!
