And we're on to day two of my birthday extravaganza! We woke up at the Riviera, and it was a bright and sunny (and HOT) day.
Asa ran down to Primo Piatto to get us some take out breakfast, because if there is one thing I love, it's Disney breakfast.
Asa got the Polenta and eggs.
But I opted for the lemon ricotta pancakes. They were as light and fluffy and delicious as I remembered them being.
But then it was check out time. We were just one night at the Riviera, so we were moving on.

We headed down to the pool to spend the afternoon and laid claim to the entire backrow of seats and lounge chairs.
But the Riviera also has lots of lawn games to play out in the courtyard.
Hayden and Gwen opted to play lawn chess.
While the rest of us decided on a Boccee Ball tournament. Peyton said we should do it early while the green was still in the shade, and that wasn't a bad idea.
My pictures may be a bit out of order here. But, I can tell you Peyton killed me, and Garrett beat Calib by just as much.
It was the best of three games, and while Cort was up 2-zip, he ended up losing to Asa.
Peyton, Garrett and Asa then faced off in a few rounds.
It was very exciting, and Asa came out the winner.
By now it was nearing lunch time, and I was up for a snack- so we headed over to Bar Riva (totally outdoors) to try the Baked Brie.
We had to sit down to order, but we got a to go container right away to get out of the bar area (outside or not) and take it over to the pool.
We shared that and some fries and some sandwiches by the pool for lunch.
And then we swam, and rode down the slide.
After swimming we headed over to the Oak Trail Golf course for a game of Footgolf. We checked in...
And then made our way down to get our soccer balls.
And got to our first practice hole...
Before starting in on our game.
If you've never played, it's golf but with a soccer ball. These pictures are all out of order too, but that's ok. It was very, very hot. But, storms rolled in toward the end of our game cooling it way down. Apparently you are allowed to stay on the course "At your own risk", we just really sped things along and finished, but only skipped one hole.
When we rounded the course and started heading back is when the rain started coming in behind us, so we had to hurry along. But, you see that pond over there? NO less than three of us sent our soccer balls into the pond.
And they had to be fished out with this long pole thing.
Asa stopped Gwen's ball from going in, while he was fishing out his, so she helped.
Even with the cloud cover, it was really hot. I mean, August in Florida, ya know? But, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
The rain started in almost as soon as we hopped in the car. Luckily, the room was ready over at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Asa and I, however, had an errand to run, so we headed over to Disney Springs. Lucky for us, the rain stopped just when we arrived. That was cause for some celebratory Poutine from the Daily Poutine!
Then we headed on over to Amorettes to pick up my birthday cake.
I got one of those big fancy dome cakes! I could chose between the design of Minnie, Mickey, Goofy or Pluto. And I went with Pluto.
I've had the mini cakes before, but never the big ones. So, I was pretty excited about it.
Cake in hand, we headed on over to Kidani Village at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for another three bedroom villa. When we opened the door, we were greeted with a giant foyer area.
Your eyes couldn't help but be drawn to the double windows straight ahead.
Big Windows = Giant Curtains.
The windows can span two floors, because the hotel room does!
We don't even have stairs in our house, but we had them in our hotel room!
At the top of the stairs, you'll find another enterance to the villa- you can access it from either floor.
At the top of the stairs is another living room type space- a pull out couch, a tv, and a set of drawers.
And then on either side of that, you have a couple of normal hotel rooms with queen sized beds and their own bathrooms.
Back down stairs there is a living room,
with another pull out couch.
A dining room, and a full sized kitchen.
The round table only seats about 8, but there is more room at the bar.
Downstairs in the foyer area you also have another full bathroom (and lots of storage closets), plus a stackable washer and dryer. I actually did a load of laundry here!
Next to the living room there's a doorway heading to the Master Bedroom.
To the right you have a pretty normal hotel room.
Complete with a dresser and a king sized bed.
To the right you'll find the master bath- with a giant bathtub! The shower was nice too, but nothing too special, especially after having the one at the Riviera.
But hey, this bathroom also had lots of storage space AND a tv in it! When I took my bath, I even put the Olympic closing ceremonies on it.
There were some cool Animal Kingdom touches in the room for sure.
But my favorite part of this room was probably the balcony- or balconies! We had one on the first floor of the hotel room that ran the length of the room- from the dining area to the Master Bedroom.
But then each upstairs room had their own balconies too.
And what makes those balconies even more special is that it's part of the Savannah view!
You get to see the animals right outside your room. I was hoping to see one giraffe, but there were like four of them, almost always down at our end.
I just threw together a bunch of my savannah pictures, because they are intertwined with all my pictures for the next two days.
By now it was dinner time, so everyone got to cooking.
It was taco night!

And then Cort decided I should carry over my Olympics to have one with everyone. I figured it'd be easy enough to hold a couple of events, so I brought along our Olympic flame and made some candy medals.

And then of course, Footgolf was an event.
Gwen killed everyone, and Asa and Cort tied (we think- the scoring got a little loosey goosey toward the end as we tried to beat the rain).
And then there was some tv watching- but no Happily Ever After. Asa called down to the front desk and they said they weren't showing it anymore.
So we hit the pool instead.
When we got back to the room, we did some late night animal watching. That's the best, because it's so quiet you can hear them munching on grass and their hoofs on the ground. We even got to see water buffalo and watusi chasing each other and galloping all around. If you stay here, you have to make sure you're keeping an eye on the safari late at night. It's amazing.
And then it was time for bed. We pulled out the couch for Calib and Hayden decided he should sleep on the floor right up against the windows. He said he wanted to wake up and see zebras. So, I tucked him in down there.
And that's it for day 2!
