2020(1) Summer Games Day 9: Shooting & Soccer

Thursday was Day 9 or our 2020 Summer Games. Our events were Shooting & Soccer, and our Spotlight Country (easily guessed by all the kids- mostly thanks to the Religion) was Israel.

For soccer I took the pool noodles and made a bunch of hoops, and a stick- essentially we were playing soccer croquet. The kid to make it through all the hoops and hit the end pole in the least amount of kicks would be the winner.

Peyton was up first.

This was tricky, because you had to kick it over the hammock.

Hayden then took a crack at it.

Both Hayden and Peyton got advantages for getting the Olympic Spotlight Country correct, and used it on Soccer, meaning that got to skip one hoop.

And later, when Calib got home from work, he took his run.

Your medalists:
Calib got to the pole in just 13 kicks.
Despite their advantages,
it took Hayden 14 kicks, and Peyton 20.

For shooting, I lined up seven rubber duckies on top of the orange cones.

And then got out some water guns...

And made a line to stand behind with a pool noodle.

Person to knock off the most ducks in the least amount of refills of their water guns would be the winner. Peyton went first.

And then Hayden was up next.

And Calib, who also had an advantage, took it on shooting. He had one less duck.

But he didn't manage loading his gun very well, so it took him more refills anyway.

Peyton won with four refills. Hayden and Calib both got all the ducks in six.

Your shooting medalists.

We had a tie for silver!

For dinner, we had various fruit: Strawberries and grapes, and a modified Israeli Salad (using what we had on hand)

And though we didn't have it last time, we tried a new recipe for Israeli Roasted Paprika Potatoes

And for our main dish we had Matzo Meal Lemon Chicken.

Betting today was on Women's 25m Pistol Shooting.
The Medalists were: ROC (Russia, but not Russia), South Korea and China.
So, Calib got his payout.

An update on where everyone stands..
